Parks board re-elects Bill Lewis as chair; John Ferm named vice chair for 2026

The Maple Grove Parks and Recreation Board re-elected Bill Lewis as chair and named John Ferm vice chair for 2026 during its regular meeting on Jan. 15. Councilmember Rachelle Johnson administered the Oath of Office to Judy Hanson, Krista Kuhnly and Andy Mielke before the organizational votes.
Director Chuck Stifter requested the board elect officers for the year. Vice Chair John Ferm moved to elect Bill Lewis chair; Deb Syhre seconded the motion and a voice vote carried seven ayes, no nays. Ken Helvey moved to elect John Ferm vice chair, seconded by Deb Syhre; that motion also passed on a 7-0 voice vote. Vice Chair Ferm moved (seconded by Deb Syhre) to elect Chuck Stifter executive secretary for 2026; the board approved that motion by voice vote as well.
Chair Lewis called for changes to the meeting agenda; Stifter said there were none. Vice Chair Ferm moved, and Board Member Judy Hanson seconded, approval of the agenda as presented; that motion passed by the same unanimous voice vote. No members of the public requested to speak during the public-comment period.
The board recorded full attendance for the Jan. 15 meeting and adjourned at 8:53 p.m.
