St. Helena council appoints library and parks volunteers, approves consent items

The St. Helena City Council on June 23 appointed and reappointed several community volunteers to advisory bodies and approved the consent calendar.
Scott Simon was appointed to the Library Board for a term through June 30, 2028; the appointment passed by voice vote following a public comment endorsing his community involvement. The council also appointed John Thompson and Elaine de Man to two Parks & Recreation Commission seats (two-year terms to 2028) and reappointed George Slesher, Richard Garber and Greg Dolly to the Finance Committee for two-year terms. Council discussed leaving one vacant finance committee seat open until the committee completes current work rather than adding a new member mid-project.
Earlier in the meeting the council adopted the consent calendar by voice vote after no public objections were raised. The council also noted several advisory committee expirations and encouraged continued recruitment for alternate and open positions.
