Committee authorizes subcommittee to study Delaware County Memorial Hospital site

Dr. McGary asked the finance and operations committee to authorize formation of a subcommittee to study the newly acquired Delaware County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) site, solicit community input and produce options for the board to consider.
"What I'd like to have happen with the board's permission is to form a subcommittee getting representation as much as we can from all the schools, both staff, families, and students and community members," Dr. McGary said. He said the administration plans to issue an RFP to gather cost estimates — including the cost to remove the existing building — and expects to provide monthly updates starting in the new year.
A committee member asked whether the RFP concerns building options and demolition; the administration confirmed the RFP will assess those costs and said the RFP will be released shortly. The committee verbally agreed to authorize the administration to move forward with forming the subcommittee.
Dr. McGary said volunteers have already expressed interest at school home-and-school meetings and that the subcommittee would be used to develop short- and long-term options to bring back to the full board.
