Minnesota City council seeks donations for park upgrades; hears cell tower inquiry and approves $15,775 in bills

At its Feb. 4 meeting, the Minnesota City Council discussed plans to upgrade the city park with a small play area by the baseball field and agreed to seek donations to help cover the cost. Council records show that Amanda Benter will draft a donation request letter and compile a list of local businesses to solicit.
During routine business, the council approved payment of listed bills totaling $15,775.32. The minutes itemized disbursements including a semi-annual loan repayment to the Minnesota Public Facilities Authority for $6,728.88, a snow-plow charge to Potter LLC for $2,227.50, and a $1,595.00 contract payment to People Service Inc. Payroll items for Tina Full and Amanda Benter were also recorded. The motion to accept the January Treasurer’s Report and to pay the bills was moved by Joe Pellowski, seconded by Emily Conners and approved by all members present.
Council members also noted that Cloud One has approached the city about a potential cell tower. The minutes say a study would be conducted prior to any installation, that the company would pay rent for use of the land and that a 50-year lease was contemplated. The council did not take further action on the inquiry at this meeting.
Other items recorded in the minutes: Xcel Energy will replace poles on Mill Street in upcoming months, and the council scheduled a 6:00 p.m. March 4 meeting (before the regular 7:00 p.m. council meeting) for Stantec to present a feasibility report on Mill Street and Lake Street. The meeting was adjourned at 8:27 p.m. on a motion by Hollis Donehower, seconded by Joe Pellowski.
