Minnesota City Council approves July finance items, pays $35,608.92 and appoints councilor to airport zoning board

Mayor Kelvin Penrod opened the Minnesota City Council meeting at 7:01 p.m. on Aug. 6, 2024. Councilors Angie Bohnstengel, Hollis Donehower and Joe Pellowski were present; Councilor Emily Conners was absent.

The council unanimously approved the minutes from the July 9, 2024 regular meeting and the July 9 public hearing. Both motions were made by Councilor Joe Pellowski and seconded by Hollis Donehower.

Council then addressed financial business. On a motion by Pellowski, seconded by Angie Bohnstengel, the council accepted amended Treasurer’s reports for January through April 2024. Council noted a spreadsheet formula for Total Cash Balance failed to transfer from the prior year and that correction was made.

The Treasurer’s Report for July was approved on a motion by Pellowski, seconded by Bohnstengel. The council voted to pay listed bills totaling $35,608.92. Notable disbursements included a semi-annual loan repayment to the MN Public Facilities Authority for $24,311.08; People Service Inc. (wastewater plant contract) for $1,535.00; League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust (workers comp) for $1,564.00; and payroll/treasurer items including Tina Full’s monthly salary of $1,193.42. The council recorded the total disbursements as $35,608.92.

On a motion by Angie Bohnstengel, seconded by Joe Pellowski, the council appointed Joe Pellowski to replace Don O’Neil on the Airport Zoning Board. Mayor Kelvin Penrod will remain on the board. The motion carried on a unanimous vote.

The council set its next meeting for Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024 at 7 p.m. at City Hall and adjourned at 8:39 p.m.
