Toledo council votes down city-applied gravel dust control, approves sewer repair payment and contingent ROW sale to fill ditch

At its June 8 meeting the Toledo City Council voted to stop pursuing city-applied dust-control treatments for gravel streets and approved several local infrastructure and property actions.

Council Member Vesely moved to not approve applying dust control to any city gravel streets; Council Member Cook seconded and the motion carried by voice vote with all present voicing ayes. City Administrator Jordan told the council that property owners could apply dust control privately if they wished.

Council Member Boll moved, seconded by Ray, to proceed with actions contingent on the city purchasing property to fill a ditch along Business Highway 30 E as much as is available, and to sell city-owned right-of-way using the alley-sale process; the purchaser would be required to pay for the survey. The motion passed by voice vote.

The council also approved payment to a contractor identified as Thomas for a sewer line repair at 702 S. Church in the amount of $8,984.35; the motion was made by Boll and seconded by Cook and carried by voice vote. City Administrator Jordan indicated he will contact CIT Sewer regarding reimbursement for the repair.

The consent agenda approved earlier in the meeting included invoices totaling $511,921.49 and payroll of $38,911.29; the minutes list detailed vendor payments and fund distributions, including bond and debt-service amounts. The meeting record does not show any dissenting votes on the infrastructure or property measures.

During public comment, owners of Lucky Wife Wine Slushie raised concerns about problems with their attendance at the Toledo Farmers Market on Friday; the minutes record the comment but show no immediate council action on that concern.
