Colfax County ratifies change order for Long Road paving; approves multiple service agreements

Colfax County commissioners ratified a change order and approved a set of professional‑service agreements and procurement awards during the meeting.
Mike Provine of Molzen Corbin explained that additional pavement failures occurred on Long Road when crews encountered wet clay subgrade. He said crews removed poor material, imported clean base course and placed patches with "3 in of asphalt" in places where the existing asphalt was thin. The board ratified change order number three for the subdivision paving project by roll call.
The commission also approved a one‑year professional service agreement with Molzen Corbin and accepted procurement awards under RFB/RFP processes: Saganowich Construction (pursuant to RFB 2026‑01), Arthur Roll Off Inc. (RFB 2026‑02) for county gravelling work on a list of named roads, and Abe Balsamo & Company (RFP 2026‑01). Commissioners recorded roll‑call votes for each approval.
Separately, the board approved a one‑year software service agreement with Triadic Enterprises to replace a failing server and authorized staff to pursue a potential multi‑year contract later. Commissioners did not identify additional contingencies beyond the standard procurement and contract terms.
Staff asked that follow‑up items (weight‑limit signage and outstanding fencing at the Blosser Gap project) be returned with cost estimates or completion updates; those follow‑ups will be scheduled through the manager’s office and public‑works staff.
