Atoka council accepts FY2025 audit with clean federal opinion, no findings

The Atoka City Council voted to accept the city’s fiscal year 2025 audit after the auditor reported a clean federal opinion and no audit findings.
April Adams, the city’s auditor, told the council the audit included a federal single-audit review this year because federal spending exceeded the audit threshold. “It was a federal audit,” Adams said, adding “there weren’t any findings.” She reported that the city’s federal expenditures for the year were $1,598,596 and noted the total award listings in the report exceed $10,000,000.
Adams said city staff had completed most procedures and that a remaining attorney letter is needed to finish filing the audit. Council members thanked staff for adjustments and recordkeeping that eased the audit work. The auditor noted that proprietary (enterprise) funds showed a positive net income while governmental fund assets declined, in part because the city cashed certificates of deposit to pay for fire trucks and capital improvements.
Committee member (speaking during the meeting) moved to approve acceptance of the audit and the motion passed unanimously on a voice/roll-call vote.
The council’s acceptance means the city will finalize federal audit filing once the outstanding procedures and the attorney letter are received. No changes to policy or staff assignments were announced at the meeting.
