Mountain Line to expand Route 8 and add a stop near Sacred Peaks starting Aug. 2, Mountain Line planner says

Lorena Reyes, associate transit planner with Mountain Line, briefed the commission on upcoming service changes scheduled to take effect Aug. 2. She said Route 8 will be extended west along McAllister and Alvin Clark before turning onto Route 66 and that paratransit service will follow the fixed route changes.
"When we expand fixed route service, that also includes all of our paratransit services as well," Lorena said, and invited commissioners to coordinate on mapping and mobility management so the ADA transition plan includes up‑to‑date transit data.
Lorena confirmed an added stop approximately a quarter‑mile east of the Maverik stop that will shorten walking distance to Sacred Peaks; she said buses cannot physically enter the Sacred Peaks site due to turning limitations but the new stop will improve access. She encouraged commissioners and members of the public to submit service‑planning comments via the Mountain Line website and noted a Coordinated Mobility Council meeting on Aug. 7.
Commissioners raised questions about potential route loops to serve both sides of State Route 89 and asked staff to provide more detail in the operational assessment; Lorena said a consulting firm is conducting a systemwide operational assessment and will make recommendations for future changes.
