Hibbing board retains officers, sets member pay and meeting schedule in reorganization

The Hibbing Public School District board voted unanimously Jan. 7 to retain its existing officers and committee assignments for the coming year and to set monthly compensation for board members.
Director McLaughlin moved, with support from Director Polcher, to keep officer positions the same as the previous year; the motion carried unanimously. Chair John Berklich will remain chair, Director Jeff Polcher will remain clerk, and Director McLaughlin will remain treasurer and chair pro tem.
In a separate resolution moved by Director Galatz and supported by Director Polcher, the board set regular board member pay at $400 per month for regularly scheduled meetings and set the chair’s pay at $450 per month. The resolution also authorizes $50 per meeting for additional negotiation meetings and special meetings beginning with the 2025–26 contract year.
The board adopted a resolution setting regular meetings on the first Wednesday after the first Monday of each month at 3:30 p.m. in the high school board room, with a second meeting two weeks later unless that date is a legal holiday. All motions in the reorganization and compensation items were recorded as carried unanimously.
