The City of New Baltimore Planning Commission voted March 24 to recommend approval of five outdoor café site plans for businesses along the city’s commercial corridors.
Commissioners approved the Blind Owl application as presented; recommended reducing the On the Bay Boutique Bar & Cafe footprint from 10 feet by 18 feet 6 inches to 7 feet by 18 feet 6 inches; approved Fin’s Eatery & Spirits with adjusted dimensions for two seating sections; and recommended approval for both The Pickled Goat and House of Ice Cream and More (the latter with a dimensional adjustment noted in the site plan record).
Planning staff and commissioners discussed site-plan dimensions during review and the motions recorded the recommended changes. Building official Gerard Hicks acknowledged responsibility for two late applications that were added to the agenda — House of Ice Cream and The Pickled Goat — saying, "the two applications that were late were my fault, I forgot about the House of Ice Cream and the Goat, I let them know a few weeks ago." The commission nonetheless moved forward and recommended approval for all five café items; each motion was recorded as carried.
The recommendations are advisory to City Council (or to the administrative review process as applicable), and the approvals recorded by the commission will be forwarded through standard staff channels for final permitting and implementation.
