DDA: 2.5 blocks of brick pavers complete; plans for outdoor café space and decorative poles

Vice Chair-Secretary Ralph DeBucce told the Downtown Development Authority the brick paver project has completed about 2.5 blocks and crews will resume work on the opposite side of the street to maintain business parking on both sides. He reported that pavers had been moved from the original location.
Chairman Higgins said, once the project is complete, he plans to request additional square footage for outdoor cafes to expand downtown dining. The board also discussed replacing standard street and stop signs on Washington from Front Street to Green Street with decorative poles, with plans to extend that treatment through the remainder of the DDA district.
Board members discussed logistics and next steps but did not take a formal vote on the café square footage or pole replacement at the meeting. Work is scheduled to resume the following Monday.
