Lamont council approves consent agenda, certifies delinquent city service bills and authorizes warrant signatures; oaths administered

At its Dec. 10 meeting the Lamont City Council approved the consent agenda and passed two resolutions — certifying delinquent city service bills to property-tax collection (Res. 25-22) and authorizing signatures on warrants (Res. 25-23). Officials also reviewed monthly finances and administered oaths of office.
The Lamont City Council met Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, and approved its consent agenda, which covered the December agenda, November minutes, vendor bills, November receipts and the November treasurer’s report.
The consent agenda passed on a motion by Devlin, second by Adams; the minutes record the vote as "all ayes; motion carried." The consent package included payroll and vendor payments such as gWorks ($6,000.00), Kluesner Sanitation ($4,120.96), a BankIowa stormwater loan payment ($18,096.98) and routine wage payments. Total expenditures by fund were reported at $54,085.75.
Council also passed Resolution 25-22 to certify delinquent city service bills to property taxes for collection (motion by Slack; second by Devlin). The motion carried with all ayes. Later the council approved Resolution 25-23, authorizing signatures on warrants; that motion (Slack moved; Lamphier second) recorded ayes from Adams, Devlin, Lamphier and Slack and carried.
City Clerk Paula J. Harvey presented the month’s financial receipts, reporting $39,671.03 in November receipts including $6,029.50 in franchise fees and $19,717.01 in city services.
Deputy Tyler Klenzman told the council the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department logged 32 hours in November and handled a dog complaint, a fire response, a theft and a welfare check. Fire Chief Crow reported the department handled one medical call, three lift assists and one controlled-burn request since the last meeting.
Mayor Mike Cook announced that Scout Park is now officially city property and said an ambulance page order change now sends first calls to Regional Medical Center. The council adjourned at 7:20 p.m. on a motion by Lamphier, second by Adams.
