Harry Davis said the commission currently has no items for a regular meeting and suggested the group either hold a virtual work session or skip the next meeting. Staff will test running Microsoft Teams from the council-chambers laptop so that a remote presenter can share content on in-room screens. "I'll join that meeting in order to present," Davis said, while noting staff will test connectivity and possible use of a phone hotspot to confirm remote equipment compatibility.
Commissioner Sam asked whether a virtual meeting would allow most commissioners to remain at home; the group clarified that at least one person must be physically present in chambers and the intent was not to permit entirely unattended virtual sessions. The commission agreed to refine logistics and reconvene decisions about meeting format at a later date.
The chair also updated the commission on recent City Council actions: an annexation for land on the north side of the industrial park passed, Mighty Fine Coffee's application was approved, and a rezoning and associated vacation for Mala Autobody received unanimous support and will proceed through final steps at council.
Commissioners discussed a separate planning task: staff and commissioners were directed to develop options—such as a sliding scale—for applying special review or standards to larger lots (for example parcels larger than about five acres). The commission agreed to prepare multiple draft approaches for a future work session to present to council.
