Starmont board approves consent agenda, accepts principals’ reports and personnel changes

The Starmont Community School District board voted 5-0 to approve the consent agenda during its Dec. 8 regular meeting. The consent package included approval of the meeting agenda, minutes from Nov. 10, monthly financial reports and bills (audited by board member Doug Puffett), personnel recommendations and resignations, volunteer coach approvals, open enrollments, fundraisers, special education contracts, and baseball concession project financials.
Listed personnel changes on the consent agenda included resignations: Addison Popham (Assistant Track Coach), Brittney Steger (paraprofessional), and Emily Otdoerfer (junior-high girls softball for the 2026 season only). The board also approved volunteer coaches and activity volunteers: Addison Popham (HS & MS Girls Wrestling), McKenna Schaufenbuel (Large Group and Individual Speech), Kyle Sneed (Individual Speech), Tracy Curtis (Boys and Girls Basketball), and Linda Sneed (Robotics).
Elementary Principal Heath Hesse reported decreased behavioral incidents in November, second-quarter PBIS celebrations (students attended a movie), and strong parent/teacher conference attendance averaging about 97%. Secondary Principal Jennifer Lange said students performed in “Miss Nelson is Missing,” described a successful Dangerous Situations assembly, reported roughly 30% attendance at secondary conferences, and previewed a financial planning assembly for middle school students and a social media safety assembly for high school students.
The board carried the consent motion on a motion by Doug Puffett and second by Tony Recker. No separate discussion or roll-call dissent was recorded in the minutes.
