The Starmont Community School board convened its organizational meeting after the regular session on Dec. 8 at the high school conference room and elected new officers for the coming year. Doug Puffett was elected board president after a nomination by Julie Uhlenkamp; Puffett abstained from voting and the nomination carried. Julie Uhlenkamp was later elected vice president following a nomination by Tony Recker and a second by Jacob Moellers; Uhlenkamp abstained and the motion carried.
The board administered the oath of office to newly elected members Jacob Moellers and Nathan Meyers. Members then approved a resolution defining the operating rules the new board will follow and presented a plaque honoring outgoing member Vicki Althoff for four years of service.
Board members made a series of administrative appointments. Nathan Meyers was nominated and approved as the IASB Legislative Area Network (LAN) representative; Uhlenkamp was named the IASB delegate assembly representative for November 2025. The board also appointed county conference board representatives (Moellers — Fayette County; Puffett — Clayton County), named Tony Recker as the Dollars for Scholars representative, and selected Puffett and Moellers as the negotiations committee representatives with Recker as alternate. The board approved Ahlers & Cooney as the district’s general legal counsel.
Votes on the leadership and appointments were recorded as carried by the board; where abstentions were recorded those are noted in the official minutes. The board set its regular meeting schedule for the second Monday of each month at 6:30 PM in the high school conference room and approved the Press Journal as the district’s official publication.
The organizational meeting ended after several routine administrative approvals. The board’s actions set leadership and representative roles for the coming year and established procedural and reporting points for district business.
