The Walker City Council granted two requests for temporary use of city streets and parkland for community events.
The council approved a request from the Twisted Torque Car Club to close Rowley Street between Ely Street and Mill Street on Sept. 13, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for staging for a car cruise. The motion was made by Jonathan Wolff, seconded by Abagail Wells and passed 4 ayes, 1 absent.
The council also approved a request from the Lions Club to use Greene Street (Dows Street to the alley north of Rowley Street), Rowley Street (alley west of the church to the city park) and the city park for Pickle Days. That motion was made by Abagail Wells, seconded by Kyle Glenn and passed 4 ayes, 1 absent.
Both approvals were recorded as standard permits/permissions in the minutes; the minutes do not list required traffic-control plans, insurance certificates or permit conditions. Event organizers should coordinate logistics and any required permits with city staff prior to the events.
