Westfield approves two neighborhood vibrancy grants for Andover and Centennial

The Westfield Board of Public Works and Safety approved two spring-round neighborhood vibrancy grant agreements for Andover and Centennial, which the parks director said will fund local beautification projects now that agreements are signed.
The Westfield Board of Public Works and Safety on June 24 approved two neighborhood vibrancy grant agreements for the Andover and Centennial neighborhoods. Chris McConnell, director of Parks and Recreation, told the board these awards were brought forward after the applicants signed their agreements.
"These are grants for neighborhood projects that will help beautify the neighborhood and bring vibrancy back to the community," McConnell said, describing the spring round as nearly complete and noting one additional application arrived after the meeting's agenda was set.
The grants were presented together; board members asked only procedural questions about why the items landed on this agenda (McConnell said he waited to present each grant until the agreement was fully executed). A motion to approve both action items was made, seconded and carried by voice vote.
The approvals complete most of the spring vibrancy-grant round, McConnell said. No dollar amounts or specific project descriptions were discussed on the record during the meeting.
The board moved on to other business after the vote; McConnell said staff is available to answer questions about individual projects outside the meeting.
