Board amends reallocation after James Island Charter declines additional funding

At the June 22 meeting the board considered a resolution to reallocate funds for several school projects. Staff (Miss Shaw) told trustees the proposed reallocation originally included an additional cost-sharing contribution from James Island Charter High School.
"In further discussions ... they have decided not to participate and provide funding for the reallocation," staff said, explaining the charter cited available funding constraints. Board members asked whether the reallocation language and resolution needed amendment to reflect that change.
Trustee JW moved to amend the resolution so that James Island Charter would receive only its original allocation; trustees discussed the technical wording and then voted on the amendment. The amendment passed and the board then voted on the motion as amended; the motion passed unanimously, allowing the remaining reallocation work (for D10 middle school and Styles Point, per staff) to proceed within the funds already allocated.
What changed: the additional $4.8 million proposed to be added to the James Island Charter project will not be transferred; staff said those funds will remain in program contingency and the base project (the previously approved allocation) will continue.
The board did not provide a roll-call tally in the transcript for the amendment or final vote; the clerk recorded that the amendment and the amended motion passed.
