Bentley Memorial Library Board approves 2023 meeting calendar; director reports charging station, grant application and vaccine clinic

The Bentley Memorial Library Board approved its 2023 meeting schedule and received routine administrative and program updates at a Nov. 15, 2022 regular meeting at the library, 206 Bolton Center Road.
Library Director Liz Thornton told the board the State Annual Report has been submitted and the library filled one Page position; she is preparing next year’s budget, which is due in December. Thornton also said the town crew installed a cement base for an outdoor charging station that is scheduled to be installed Nov. 17, 2022, and that the library will close early on Thanksgiving Eve.
Thornton summarized recent community programs that drew strong attendance, including a Teddy Bear Picnic, a Halloween Costume Party and a Bolton-author series. She reported Eastern CT Highland Health held a vaccine clinic at the library that administered vaccines to 98 people. Staff member Sandie Pierog staffed a table for National Voter Registration Day to answer questions and help complete registration forms.
Thornton told the board the library collected more than 50 mugs for the Hartford Kids Holiday Event, has a Giving Tree up with tags listing requested donations such as candy and winter accessories, and has applied to the Community Fund for a $10,400 grant to build a patio.
On procedural business, the board unanimously approved the minutes of the Sept. 13, 2022 meeting (motion by Polly Silva; second by Loni Hryn). The board also unanimously approved its 2023 meeting dates — Jan. 10, Mar. 14, May 9, July 11, Sept. 12 and Nov. 14 — on a motion by Kelly Goldsnider, seconded by Claire Fazzina.
The meeting concluded at 5:40 p.m. after a motion to adjourn by Claire Fazzina, seconded by Kelly Goldsnider. The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Jan. 10, 2023 at 4:00 p.m.
