Bolton library reports 225 visitors from Passport to CT Libraries; board cancels June meeting

Library Director Liz Thornton told the Bentley Memorial Library Board on May 14 that the Passport to Connecticut Libraries program brought 225 visitors to the Bolton branch, a surge she said reflects strong community interest in library services.
Chair Rebecca Holliman opened the regular meeting at 4:00 p.m. and the board recorded a quorum: Holliman, Clair Fazzina, Loni Hryn and Dot Neil were present; Brook Nowak and Kelly Goldsnider were absent with notice. A motion to approve the minutes of the March 12, 2024 meeting was made by Loni Hryn and seconded by Clair Fazzina; the motion passed unanimously.
Thornton reported April and May circulation statistics were both high, with downloadable materials particularly elevated. She said the library provided printed information for patrons and visitors to explain collection categories and services.
Thornton also reported improvements to the library patio carried out by Town Building and Grounds in time for the Bolton Great Together reception; attendees praised new plants, stones and a solar light donated by the Lions Club. Thornton noted related programming successes: 66 patrons attended an indoor walk during National Library Week, and book discussions — including this month’s selection, The Wager by David Grann — continue to draw attendees.
The board agreed to cancel its June meeting and resume in September. The meeting was adjourned at 5:09 p.m.; the motion to adjourn, made by Chair Rebecca Holliman and seconded by Clair Fazzina, passed unanimously.
