Underwood council adds stop signs at two intersections, sets Nov. 12 hearings on related ordinances

The Underwood City Council on Oct. 14 approved installation of stop signs at two local intersections and set public hearings to take the formal ordinance steps.
The council voted to add stop signs on 3rd Avenue at 4th Street (north-south sides) and to add stop signs on 2nd Avenue at 4th Street (north-south sides); both motions passed 5-0. Council later adopted Resolution 25-10-03 and Resolution 25-10-04 to set public hearings and first readings on Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. to consider adding the stop signs at the two 4th Street intersections; both resolutions were approved 5-0.
Council also recorded that no action was taken at this meeting on Chapter 66 (Load and Weight Restrictions) and no action was taken on load limits for First Avenue, Fourth Avenue and Fourth Street. The minutes do not include any recorded public comments opposing or supporting the stop sign actions or technical traffic studies; the items moved forward by council motion and will be subject to the public hearings noted in the resolutions.
The public hearings on Nov. 12 will be the next formal opportunity for residents to weigh in on the proposed stop sign additions and for council to take first-reading ordinance action.
