Charlie Baker, CCRPC executive director, reported that the Equity Leadership Team met July 7 and that staff will circulate a survey to towns to gather feedback on municipal equity initiatives. Emma Vaughn, communications manager, said Creative Discourse recommended shortening introductory material and providing reading in advance; Chris Shaw suggested extending interview sessions beyond one hour when more participants attend.
Charlie said staff created a Racial Equity page on the CCRPC website containing notes from Equity Leadership Team meetings and that an Equity Workshop is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 6. Baker asked board members to encourage municipal participation in the survey at the July Board meeting.
Separately, committee members discussed returning to hybrid public meetings. Charlie and Regina Mahony said normal public meeting law is back in effect and CCRPC is preparing to hold hybrid meetings; staff plan to test mobile recording equipment with CCTV at the October Board meeting and use basic hybrid equipment at the July Board meeting. Members noted technical challenges observed in other towns and emphasized ironing out details before wider rollout.
The committee agreed to include the equity survey and workshop information on the July Board agenda for broader discussion and to continue refining hybrid meeting operations.
