The Redwood Coast Transit Authority board approved a revised purchase order to A Toz Bus Sales for up to $495,000 to purchase two Ford F550 replacement buses.
Staff explained that the purchase order was brought back to the board after CALR required outreach to a second bidder in the vehicle class; A Toz Bus Sales offered equal or better vehicles at a comparable price. Staff said the agency has experienced specification and equipment problems with its longtime vendor, Model One (formerly Creative Bus Sales), including missing cameras on recently delivered vehicles.
Joe, RCTA staff, said the purchase order limit was raised from $490,000 to $495,000 to cover additional items such as fare boxes and cameras that could not be repurposed from older vehicles. A corrected resolution number (2025-26-6) for the purchase order was recorded before the motion was finalized.
The motion to adopt the purchase-order resolution carried with recorded “yes” votes from Director Alman, Director Borges and Chairman Short.
Next steps: staff will move forward with the vendor selection and placement of the purchase order following CALR’s vendor-review process.
