El Segundo Unified says it met state local indicators, adopts LCAP and 2026–27 budget

Dr. Young, the district presenter, told the board the five state local indicators for El Segundo Unified were measured using local surveys, self-assessments and in-house reports and that the district met the requirements. "I am happy to report that we had zero misassignments, 100% compliance on our Williams audits, and we received 'good' on our FIT ratings," she said.

The presentation detailed the five priorities the state monitors: basic services (appropriately assigned teachers, access to aligned materials and school condition), implementation of state standards, parental engagement, school climate and course access. Dr. Young said the district is fully implementing state standards except for career and technical education (CTE), where the district is in initial implementation as it expands pathways at the high school.

Board members pressed for clarity on secondary parental engagement and school-climate measures. Dr. Young said principals will review annual survey results and cautioned that past secondary data covered only middle school, so year-to-year comparisons will be clearer next year.

The board adopted the district's Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) after administrators said the local indicators presentation completed the requirement for LCAP adoption. At the same meeting the board approved the 2026–27 fiscal year budget following staff recommendation; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously.

Why it matters: the local indicators and LCAP guide how the district targets resources for student groups and measure progress on instruction, safety and engagement. The budget vote sets the financial plan supporting those goals for the coming year.
