Lamoni School Board approves 2022-23 calendar, ESSER staff incentive and multiple personnel actions

The board voted to adopt the 2022-23 school calendar as presented. Director Michele Dickey-Kotz moved to approve the calendar; Director Kathy Lerma-DeNuccio seconded and the motion carried unanimously, as recorded in the minutes.
In a funding move affecting staff pay, the board approved using ESSER III funds to provide a one-time $1,000 incentive payment in the March 2022 payroll to certified and classified staff who do not meet the criteria of Governor Reynolds’ Teacher Incentive. Director Zack Mullins moved the measure and Director Michele Dickey-Kotz seconded; the minutes record the motion carried unanimously. The minutes do not provide a vote tally.
The board approved several personnel items. It accepted the resignation of Holly Howell for the 2022-23 school year and approved a lane-change salary adjustment for Jon Hampton from BA+22 to MA+15 after completion of required college credits. On facilities and contracts, Estes Construction project coordinator Chad Alley reviewed the process and next steps in developing a District Master Facilities Plan. The board accepted a two-year mowing bid from Schwab Lawn Care, LLC for March 2022–April 2024 at the prices listed in the minutes: $180 for the Walnut property and $35 for the North Chestnut property. The motion to accept the mowing bid carried unanimously, per the minutes.
The board set April 13, 2022, as the public hearing date for the proposed 2022-2023 fiscal year budget summary. It also approved cooperative sharing agreements with Central Decatur for wrestling (hosted by Central Decatur) and for bowling (hosted by Lamoni) for the 2022-23 winter season.
The minutes record the board approved the second reading of the 800 series of board policy. That motion is recorded as having been seconded by Director Kris Stevenson; the minutes also list Director Stevenson as absent at roll call earlier in the meeting. The minutes do not reconcile that discrepancy; the board’s recorded action is listed as carried unanimously.

The board moved into exempt session at 7:44 p.m. under Iowa Code Chapter 21.5(j) and Chapter 21.9, exited exempt session at 8:44 p.m., and adjourned at 8:45 p.m., as recorded in the minutes.
