The Lamoni Community School District Board of Directors met Feb. 9 and unanimously approved several administrative and funding actions, including operational-sharing positions for the 2022–23 school year and a request for supplemental preschool funding.
The board approved operational-sharing positions and the associated staffing structure for superintendent, human resources director, transportation director and a social worker for FY22–23. The motion was made by Director Michele Dickey-Kotz and seconded by Director Kris Stevenson; the board carried the motion unanimously.
Directors also voted to submit a request to the School Budget Review Committee for $39,748.50 related to the FY22 State-Wide Voluntary Preschool Program (SWVPP). The request was described as necessary because enrollment this year has increased compared with 2020–21, a change attributed in the meeting record to impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic. The funding request motion was made by Director Dickey-Kotz and seconded by Director Stevenson and carried unanimously.
The board accepted the resignation of Ryan Martin as junior high boys basketball coach. That personnel action was approved on a unanimous vote with the same mover and seconder.
For communications related to the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) to be considered in September, the board approved a contract with the Donovan Group covering May through September to assist the district with public communication and media relations on the levy campaign. The motion passed unanimously.
