Residents press Southampton officials on storm drains, food trucks and missing alerts; emergency services report activity

Kevin Boyd of 55 Maidstone Place asked whether storm-sewer cleaning and street sweeping would continue for Leisuretowne; Mayor Michael Mikulski said the Township is on a regular rotation with the county. Bill Cozzi of Leisuretowne asked that storm drains be cleaned and inquired whether Leisuretowne would be included in right-of-way branch trimming; the mayor replied that branch trimming occurs throughout the Township.
Suzy Costales of 21 Picardy Place said she "has not been receiving Nixle alerts." Township Clerk Melanie L. Brown told Costales she would help get her set up to receive alerts.
Representatives from Red Top Farm Market, Phil and Mary, described fundraising events at the market and said the events help strengthen community ties. Phil said a complaint had been filed about the use of food trucks at a nonprofit event; Mayor Mikulski said there is not currently a Township ordinance governing food trucks.
Public-safety updates included a report from Jim Heffernan of Vincent Fire Co on July calls and a briefing from Eamonn Fitzpatrick-Ruth (OEM/HLES) that the Emergency Operations Plan is being updated, a tabletop exercise for an EMAA grant is being developed, and HLES onboarded three volunteer staff members (18 volunteers total). Fitzpatrick-Ruth also said the squad was approved for the Expanded EMT Scope of Practice and that joint education classes were held with the State Police and fire companies.
Doug Melegari of 219 Burrs Mill Road reported dead trees along Red Lion Road; Mayor Mikulski said he would notify Public Works and the County about the report.
What happens next: Clerk Brown offered to assist residents with Nixle setup; the mayor and Public Works were asked to follow up on tree and drainage concerns. No formal directions or deadlines were provided on the record.
