Southampton Township Committee unanimously appoints Brandon Umba as administrator

The Southampton Township Committee on Aug. 8 unanimously approved Resolution 2024-98 to appoint Brandon Umba as the township administrator.
Mayor Michael Mikulski moved to appoint Brandon Umba, with Committeeman William Raftery seconding; at the roll call Mayor Mikulski, Deputy Mayor Ronald Heston, Committeewoman Elizabeth Rossell and Committeeman William Raftery all voted in the affirmative. The committee also voted unanimously to amend the agenda to remove Resolution 2024-97 and cancel a planned executive session on personnel.
The appointment drew a brief public comment. Jim Heffernan (24 Meadow Dr.) asked for background on Mr. Umba. Mayor Michael Mikulski said Mr. Umba will introduce himself at the Township Committee meeting on Aug. 20 and described his background, saying Mr. Umba currently serves as administrator in Spottswood, previously served as administrator in Manchester, Lumberton and West Deptford, and "served as assemblyman at the 8th District for two years." The committee then offered a formal welcome to Mr. Umba and the meeting concluded.
The special meeting convened at 6:00 p.m. in the Robert L. Thompson Building and adjourned at 6:04 p.m. Melanie L. Brown, the township clerk, signed the meeting minutes. The new administrator is scheduled to introduce himself at the committee's regular meeting on Aug. 20.
