Tri-Center board completes annual policy review, waives second reading on multiple updates

At its Oct. 8 meeting, the Tri-Center Community School District Board of Education completed its annual review of district policies and approved a second set of policy updates, both by unanimous 4-0 votes.
The board first approved the annual review of policy 103 (Long Range Needs Assessment) and a suite of 506-series student records policies, among others. That motion carried 4-0. Later in the meeting, the board approved and waived the second reading for additional policies, including 209 (Board Committees); 401.2 (Equal Employment Opportunity); 502.8 (Student Substance Use); 507.2 (Administration of Medication to Students); 507.5 (Emergency Plans and Drills); 607.2 (Student Health Services); 708 (Care, Maintenance, Disposal of School District Records); 710.1E1 (School Nutrition Program nondiscrimination notice); 802.2 (Requests for Improvements); and 804.5 (Stock Prescription Medication Supply). The motion to approve and waive the second reading was moved by Mike Olsen and seconded by Katie Ausdemore and passed 4-0.
The minutes list policy numbers and titles as presented to the board; the record does not include text of amendments or the specific operational changes those policy updates enact. The board did not discuss or record any objections in the minutes. The votes that approved both the annual review and the waiver were unanimous among members present (President Sara Arnold, Mike Olsen, Jeremy VanArsdol and Katie Ausdemore).
