CRRPC finalizes topics for Dec. 7 legislative briefing, emphasizing housing, permitting and equity

Charlie Baker, executive director, and Regina Mahony, planning program manager, reviewed a draft PowerPoint for the Chittenden County Municipal Legislative Briefing during the Dec. 1 CCRPC joint Executive & Finance Committee meeting.
Charlie said roughly 40 people had signed up for the remote briefing scheduled for Dec. 7 at 8:00 AM and asked members to advise whether the PowerPoint or a memo outline would work better; members preferred the PowerPoint format. The presentation organizes issues under Place, Prosperity, People, Governance and Funding and highlights topics expected to arise during the legislative session, including water, wastewater and stormwater; permitting system improvements (S.101); expanding neighborhood development area exemptions to villages; federal and state funding access; transportation investments and safety; increasing housing supply and rental health and safety (S.79); climate change; environmental justice (S.148); equity engagement and an equity audit; workforce and economic development (H.159); broadband investment flexibility; transit financing options; cannabis retail tax sharing for host municipalities; and the need for increased RPC funding after two decades of level support.
Charlie and Regina edited the presentation with member input and said the PowerPoint will be posted on the CCRPC website ahead of the briefing.
The Legislative Breakfast will be held remotely at 8:00 AM on Dec. 7; staff encouraged members to review the posted materials and provide feedback.
