Fairmont Area School Board accepts resignation, approves contract change and routine business

The Fairmont Area School Board accepted the resignation of Eric Walker (technology specialist) effective Aug. 22, 2025, after the personnel report was read. The board then heard a recommendation from principals Brusky and Schultz to increase Eric Walker’s high-school English teacher contract from 0.125 to 1.0 effective Aug. 25, 2025. The motion to increase the contract was seconded and carried after one board member recorded opposition.
Earlier in the meeting the board approved routine items: minutes from the Aug. 26, 2025 meeting, the meeting agenda (with a note that new business may be moved after personnel), and wire transfers and bills covering Aug. 21–Sept. 3 and Sept. 9. Each motion recorded in the transcript shows a second and in multiple cases a single board member voiced opposition while the motion was recorded as carried.
Operations committee members reported recent walkthroughs and scheduling related to referendum planning and building systems.
