EBTC outlines proposed Lamont fiber project; survey to be mailed in December

He said the cooperative will mail a survey in December to gauge local interest and that the project would require about 60% of homes and businesses to show strong interest and sign up before moving forward.
Council members did not take formal action at the meeting on the proposal; Becker described the outreach step and timeline. The presentation did not specify project costs, funding sources, or a construction schedule; those details were left for future follow-up if the survey shows sufficient resident and business demand.
The discussion came during routine business at the Nov. 12 meeting of the Lamont City Council. The council recorded no formal vote on the fiber proposal that evening; Becker said next steps begin with the mailed survey.
