Fairmont FFA reports state honors, chapter to compete at American Royal in Kansas City

FFA coach Mr. Nick Piece updated the board on the program’s 2025 season, reporting broad student participation at regional contests and two members who earned the Minnesota State FFA degree.
Mr. Piece said Fairmont sent 24 students and four teams to the Minnesota state convention. He named Tyler Kurt and Paige Dbor as students who earned the state degree, which he described as "the highest honor that the state of Minnesota will grant to a FFA member." The chapter also placed fifth in livestock evaluation at state — a result Mr. Piece said was the highest since reintroducing agriculture to the school.
The coach told the board the chapter has the option to attend national-level contests and that after the school ahead of Fairmont chose the Denver slot, Fairmont accepted a place at the American Royal in Kansas City on Oct. 19. Mr. Piece and others praised coaches and chaperones, including Dr. Jeff Kurt and chaperone Anne Kurt, for their support.
Board members asked questions about travel and supervision; Mr. Piece said the program staggered contest schedules when the Minnesota State Fairgrounds were under construction and commended students’ behavior during long trips. The board applauded the students’ accomplishments and the coaches’ work.
No formal board action was required to receive the report.
