Lamont City Council approves consent agenda and reviews April finances

The Lamont City Council on May 13 approved the consent agenda, including payroll and vendor payments, at the regular meeting called to order by Mayor Michael J. Cook.
Council member Lamphier moved to approve the consent agenda (May agenda; April special meeting minutes; bills; April receipts; treasurer's reports); Council member Lincoln seconded. The vote was recorded as all ayes and the motion carried.
City Clerk Paula J. Harvey provided the finance summary: April expenditures totaled $53,596.16 across funds (General $14,599.55; Road Use Tax $2,319.58; Trust & Agency $2,776.50; LOST $8,312.04; Water $6,934.70; Sewer $8,583.67; Landfill $10,014.96; Stormwater $55.16). April revenues totaled $81,790.20, including property tax receipts of $46,459.15 and city services of $20,316.75.
Deputy Tyler Klenzman of the Buchanan County Sheriff's Department reported the department logged 42 hours in April and responded to calls including dog complaints, a domestic incident, vandalism and civil matters. Paula J. Harvey reported the fire department logged six controlled-burn notifications, one vehicle accident with no injuries or damage, and four medical calls during April.
Mayor Michael J. Cook used his report to note that the Buchanan County Economic Development Commission (BCEDC) was held in Lamont in April, and that a court date has been set for one dog citation. He said he is working with several property owners to encourage property cleanup before nuisance abatement proceedings would be issued. Mayor Cook also said the Volunteer Appreciation event drew a large response and will be made an annual event, that the city will distribute a Lamont business and organization list via utility billing, and that public feedback led to keeping the noon and six whistle unchanged. He reported that EBTC plans to place a box on city property on Madison Street.
