Fairmont speech team hailed for state and national success at May 13 board meeting

Walker also described the team’s fundraising and community support. She said local businesses and donors — including Pizza Ranch, Lawn Solutions and Quantis — helped the team raise roughly $4,000 toward national travel this spring. Walker said several students will attend national-level tournaments in the coming days.
Board members praised the coaches and students. One member noted the program’s long record of state champions and medalists and urged more visible recognition of fine-arts accomplishments across the district.
The presentation concluded with the board extending congratulations and thanks to the coaches and student competitors. No formal action was required by the board on the presentation.
