The La Crescent-Hokah School District board recited the oath of office and reorganized leadership at an organizational meeting. Members pledged to support the U.S. and state constitutions and to discharge the duties of school board members for Independent School District No. 300.
Wade Welper was nominated and elected board chair; after the vote Welper said, "I am the new chair." Darcy was elected vice chair following a contested voice vote that members reported as about five to two. Nicole Miller was elected clerk by voice vote after accepting the nomination. Danielle Martell was nominated and approved as treasurer.
Board members were urged to review the district's School Board policies, which the presiding member said should be read annually to familiarize new members with board responsibilities. The oath and officer elections set the leadership for the coming year and the board indicated it would circulate finalized committee rosters and policy materials to new members.
The board did not take any policy-level actions during the election proceedings; the votes were procedural and intended to establish officers and administrative assignments for the year ahead.
