The White Salmon City Council on March 18 approved Resolution 2026-03-642 to authorize a citywide garage sale and directed staff to require that items be removed from streets within two days after the event weekend.
Council Member Doug Rainbolt said he supported the event but asked for clearer post-event cleanup expectations to prevent nuisance conditions. Council Member Morella Mora asked that outreach materials be provided in Spanish to increase community participation; staff noted existing code addresses unattended property and emphasized outreach through flyers, the city website and block-level engagement. The council adopted the resolution 4-0 with direction to include the two-day removal requirement and to provide outreach materials in Spanish.
What to watch: Staff is expected to finalize event outreach materials and enforcement messaging to balance community sharing and public-safety/cleanup needs.
