During the public-comment period at the Feb. 18 White Salmon City Council meeting, resident Peter DeVaris asked whether city plans are available and whether there will be opportunities for public review of a proposed property division and potential new house at 276 NE Washington Street, which he said could obstruct his view of the Columbia River Gorge.
City staff told DeVaris he could follow up with City Hall and that the city planner would contact him to address questions about the proposal. DeVaris also raised a separate billing question about a streetlight charge on his PUD bill. Council Member Patty Fink clarified that the utility is a separate entity from the city and staff agreed to look into the charge and follow up with DeVaris.
The remarks were made during the meeting’s public-comment period; no council action or vote on the property split was recorded at the Feb. 18 meeting.
