Faribault council accepts low bid under $32,000 to demolish 505 Central Avenue

The Faribault City Council approved Resolution 2025-181 to accept the low bid for demolition of 505 Central Avenue.
Director Mark Duchain reported five bids were opened July 16; the low bid came from Fitzgerald Excavating & Trucking at just under $32,000, substantially less than staff’s prior estimate of approximately $50,000. Work is anticipated to start in late August; the contract includes demolition of the structure and adjacent pavement, following which the site will be backfilled, seeded and blanketed as green space.
Council moved and approved the resolution by voice vote. Staff will coordinate contract award and scheduling with the successful bidder.
