The Starmont Community School District Board approved a package of interdistrict shared-service agreements with West Central Community School District at its March 9 meeting.
The board voted 5-0 to share the Human Resources director, business manager and transportation director with West Central on a 60/40 cost split. The board also approved sharing the superintendent position with West Central on a 60/40 split; that motion carried 5-0 as recorded in the minutes.
The board separately approved sharing cross country, wrestling and baseball with West Central for the 2026–27 school year; that motion carried 4-1 with board member Nathan Meyers recorded as the lone dissenting vote. Tony Recker made the motion to approve athletic sharing; Julie Uhlenkamp seconded.
Minutes do not record extended debate or the operational details beyond the stated 60/40 split. The district will need to finalize written agreements that specify cost allocation, reporting lines and operational responsibilities before those shared positions and programs are implemented.
The board also approved routine agreements and contracts at the same meeting, including a University of Northern Iowa clinical placement agreement and an AEA purchasing agreement.
