Statham City Council tables Railroad Street rezone, approves paving and municipal contracts

STATHAM, Ga. — The Statham City Council met Sept. 17 and approved a slate of municipal contracts and infrastructure projects while tabling two agenda items for future meetings.
The council voted unanimously to: award a paving contract for Dooley Town to Garrett Paving Company, Inc. for $156,480.99; award an automatic gate project for the Public Works building to ECA Gate & Lock for $11,689.60; approve a remote monitoring system for the city water tank from Mission Communications for $15,671.80; and award an HVAC contract for the Hillman Rainwater Community Center to Global HVAC Inc. for $7,671.00. Each of those motions was made, seconded and carried on 5–0 votes.
Councilmembers also accepted a dedication of sanitary sewer and water easements for the Lakes of Statham subdivision and authorized the mayor to execute the resolution, bill of sale and easement agreement. Councilmember Patterson moved to accept the easement dedications and Councilmember Penn seconded; the motion passed 5–0.
Two items were tabled for later consideration. Councilmember Terilli initially moved to table the 1862 Railroad Street rezone application to Oct. 1, and Councilmember Patterson offered a substitute motion to table the item to Oct. 15; the substitute motion to table to Oct. 15 passed 5–0. Separately, the council tabled consideration of the GMA 2025 Health & Life Coverage Policy to the Oct. 1 meeting on a unanimous vote. Councilmember Patterson also moved to table a BP gaming license application to Oct. 1; that motion passed 5–0.
The meeting opened at 6:30 p.m. with a moment of silence for victims of the Sept. 4 Apalachee High School shooting. Mayor Krause was present along with Councilmembers Terilli, Bogenrieder, Patterson, Penn and Burnette; city staff in attendance included City Attorney Jody Campbell, City Administrator Cheryl Venable, City Clerk Nicole Sapp and Public Works Director Brett Day. The meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
The minutes show that most votes were routine and unanimous; no public testimony or extended debate on the listed items was recorded in the minutes. Several items were explicitly tabled to specified future meetings for additional consideration.
