TMHS launches "Tiger Block"; student activities and ribbon‑cutting highlighted

Thompson Middle/High School has begun a new "Tiger Block" schedule that builds protected time into the school day for students to receive academic support and enrichment, the Board of Education was told Oct. 15.
District minutes record that students and staff are responding favorably to the schedule change; the board noted it will receive more details about Tiger Block at the November BOE meeting. School events listed in the report included a Young Conductors Concert, College Planning Night for seniors, the TMHS homecoming dance, and PSATs for juniors.
The minutes also record a ribbon‑cutting ceremony in which student welders met Congressman Courtney and State Senators Mae Flexer and Dr. Jeff Gordon. Athletic updates included records for boys soccer, girls soccer (combined with Killingly), football, and cross‑country meets. The Student Council met Oct. 1 and plans to bring several new ideas to administrators.
