Policy committee narrows electronic-device guidance for middle and high school

The Policy Committee of The Gilbert School District reviewed updated model policies for student electronic devices at its Oct. 3 meeting and made revisions to distinguish expectations for middle-school and high-school students.
Committee members examined several versions provided by the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) and adjusted language on permitted use and grade-specific rules. The committee agreed to consolidate changes into a single draft and requested that a revised policy be returned for committee review at the November meeting.
The action was procedural: no final policy was adopted. Committee members said the draft will be refined before it goes to the full board for any first read or vote.
