Sigourney council approves consent items, installs mayor pro tem and administers oaths

The Sigourney City Council on Dec. 17 approved routine consent items, established a mayor pro tempore and administered Oaths of Office to three individuals.
The council approved the consent agenda — minutes of the Dec. 3 meeting; Council accounts payable totaling $19,042.46; Resolution #2025-12-39 providing financial support for the AREA 15 Regional Planning Commission; a credit card report; and set the next regular meeting for Jan. 7, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. Council member Conrad moved to approve the consent agenda, seconded by Council member Schultz; the motion passed on a unanimous roll call.
Mayor Morlan administered the Oath of Office to Jesse Hannam, Dave Goldman and Larry Chmelar; the minutes record those three as recipients of the Oath of Office but do not specify the offices to which they were sworn.
The council then approved Resolution #2025-12-40 to establish the mayor pro tempore. Council member Schultz moved, seconded by Council member Conrad; the roll call showed Ayes: Clark, Conrad and Schultz; McLaughlin abstained. The motion carried.
Other actions included approval of a half-page ad in the 2026 Keokuk County Visitors Guide and approval of the annual council member remuneration for calendar year 2025. Council member Clark moved to adjourn, seconded by Council member Schultz; the meeting was adjourned at 6:13 p.m.
