Sigourney awards $308,500 water-tower rehabilitation contract to Tanks Co., Inc.

The Sigourney City Council voted Dec. 17 to award a $308,500 contract to Tanks Co., Inc. for rehabilitation of the city’s water tower. The motion to approve Resolution #2025-12-35 was made by Council member Schultz and seconded by Council member McLaughlin and passed on a roll call vote of Ayes: Clark, Conrad, McLaughlin and Schultz; Nays: none.
Matt Walker of French Reneker Associates told the council that staff attempted to contact several municipalities where Tanks Co., Inc. had completed similar projects; only the City of Waverly responded and confirmed it experienced no issues. Walker said the company’s bid appeared complete and that, because the project is funded in-house, Davis-Bacon wage requirements do not apply to this contract.
The council did not record additional conditions or amendments to the award. With the motion approved, the city may proceed with contract execution and scheduling for the water-tower rehabilitation project.
