Council approved a street-closure request for the 91st annual Halloween parade on Oct. 25. The plan presented by Larry Shickles calls for a noon until parade-end closure of Chestnut Street from North Capitol to Malberry, a staged area on Elm, food trucks in the Bicentennial Park area and public-safety booths during a daytime street party.
Shickles said the prosecutor's office will participate in the event and that the schedule includes a noon street party with music, a costume contest and a 3 p.m. performance by Lana Scott of Nashville before the parade. After a motion and second, the council approved the closure; the transcript records one member opposing the motion.
Staff were directed to coordinate closure logistics and staging and to confirm freight-route exceptions for the closure period.
