Sigourney adopts parks-hours ordinance and advances traffic-code changes including new no-parking signs

The Sigourney City Council on Oct. 1 approved the second reading of Ordinance Title III — Public Order, Safety and Health — Chapter 15, which sets hours of operation for city-owned parks, and approved a first reading of Ordinance Title III — Community Protection — Chapter 3 (Traffic Code) with an amendment to add no-parking signage on Stuart Street from Spring Street to West Pleasant Valley Street.
Council member Clark moved, seconded by Council member McLaughlin, to approve the parks-hours ordinance on its second reading; the vote was unanimous. Separately, Council member Clark moved and Council member Schultz seconded the first reading of the traffic code ordinance, including the addition of no-parking signs on the specified stretch of Stuart Street; that motion also passed with unanimous support.
The parks-hours ordinance was adopted on second reading and will take effect according to the city’s ordinance schedule. The traffic-code amendment advances on first reading; further readings will be required before final adoption.
