The Corunna town council reviewed several local infrastructure and economic development items, including appraisals for town lots, bathroom repair bids, fiber internet availability and the county’s 20‑year master plan.
On property sales, staff said two lots by the south‑side bridge and a narrow strip along Henan Street were appraised; the combined appraisal for two lots was presented as $1,400 and the strip was appraised at $7,000. Council members discussed cleanup and concrete removal costs and agreed to gather final numbers before placing the properties for bid.
Council also reviewed two bathroom bids and determined they are not yet directly comparable; construction for the park bathrooms will be postponed until winter when contractors’ schedules permit. On park projects, members reported a playground pad has been leveled and contractors expect to begin equipment installation toward the end of August with completion possibly stretching into next year.
Fiber internet provider Surf Internet has started marking for jobs and staff said residents should contact Surf to get on its service list; staff quoted residential packages in a range from about $55 to $100 depending on speed.
The county is soliciting input for a master plan through about 2040; council members encouraged participation so Corunna’s priorities — including discussion of a potential gas station/convenience store at a key corner — are included in county planning efforts.
Next steps: staff will refine cost estimates, coordinate property appraisals and cleanup, track Surf Internet’s deployment schedule and submit town input to the county master‑plan process.
