Council approves $15,000 allocation to Chamber for July 4 parade security

Parks Director Lina Hicks described how the $15,000 already authorized by council would be allocated: $8,500 to purchase barriers that would line the parade route, $2,500 for overtime to pay six additional city staff to help manage the event, and $4,000 to be provided to the Chamber of Commerce for hiring security and event staff. Hicks said the funds had been authorized previously and the resolution “would just kind of break it up, of how we're going to spend it.”
A councilmember moved approval, the motion was seconded, and the council approved the resolution by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
